Decluttering Your Home in 2023

New year, new you. Or at least, decluttered you.

It’s 2023, and it’s high time to clean out your home and start decluttering. Here are some tips on decluttering to get you going.

Make a Plan

Before you get started on any decluttering, make a list of all of the areas in the house you would like to clean. Decide how much time you want to commit to each area as well, as decluttering can get easily time consuming. How are you going to sort through your clutter? Do you have an organizational plan in place?

Set up boxes to declutter

The next step is to set up your actual organizational system so you can get started. We recommend setting up four boxes- recycle, donate, trash, sell. These four options are a great way to ensure that you aren’t throwing away things that may be useful to others.

What to do when you cannot decide

If you can't decide whether you want to keep an item or not, consider if you have used it within the past year and if it has sentimental value. If the answer is no, force yourself to get rid of it. Does the item bring you any worth or joy? Decluttering is a difficult process and physical things can be hard to get rid of. However, keep in mind that if you are donating or selling the item, someone else might find a lot of joy from it.

Deep Clean

As you go around the house, make sure you vacuum the nooks and crannies where there might be dust. Take a duster and make sure to wipe down surfaces as well. Decluttering isn't just about getting rid of unnecessary objects and clutter- it's also about creating a fresh and clean home!

All in all, even if your process isn’t a highly planned out one, and you just choose to recycle a couple of items in your home, pat yourself on the back. It’s time to start fresh in 2023!
